If I could write the title to a comic book about my life...

The reason for this post is to explain the title of this blog: "Wonders of Infinite Laughs: The Heininger Chronicles."  I know, I know, how exciting can that be, but hear me out.  It has its roots in what else: geekdom!  Specifically, comic book geekdom.  You see, gentle reader, in the DC Comic universe there is a story arc that is titled "Crisis on Infinite Earths" and I love that title.  I'm really not sure why.  I didn't even discuss it with Jay (who as most people know is the bigger comic book geek between us).  After getting that comic book story arc title stuck in my head, this kind of worked itself out backwards.  If there is anything infinite in our house (besides bills, but that's true for everyone) it's laughter.  Silly laughter.  Ridiculous laughter.  Inappropriate laughter.  Dark, morbid jokes leading to barking, gasping laughter.  It's my favorite thing about home and my husband.  We laugh like mental patients.  We will even do that whole "slap happy" thing and lay in bed laughing at the other for laughing in a crazy, side-aching cycle long after it's time to go to sleep.  So that took care of the infinite part of the title.

Replacing the "Crisis" bit of the original title this is loosely (very, very loosely) based on was easy, too.  Being able to laugh at everything (and I mean everything), being able to find even the darkest of jokes about any situation is a wonder.  We make it because of our laughter.  Our arguments get broken up because one of us says something inadvertently funny while angry (usually me) and the other can't hold back the laughter.  That gets us both laughing and suddenly the problem is easier to resolve and/or handle and move away from.  The first step on the road to healing from any blow is always that quiet moment when one of us makes a joke that we could say to no one else cause they wouldn't understand why it's so funny and not horribly depressing.

As for "The Heininger Chronicles" part, well, I just wanted our name in it somewhere so it would be recognizable.  Also, calling this blogging about our life a "chronicle" makes it sound bigger to me and more epic like it needs its own theme music and perhaps even an awesome intro.  And to end this as cheesy as I possibly can, I will type the next thought that came into my head about the title: We are all the superheros of our own stories.  We have villains and other superheros and ordinary citizens that either help or hinder us.  Superheros are people who have lives and make mistakes and carry on as if they really are superheros.
